Tasting Notes
Cristal 1999 shows remarkable finesse and balance, with a luminous, refined appearance that hints at its precision and depth. The nose is fragrant and layered, opening with white fruit, citrus, and delicate floral nuances, before revealing a distinct mineral edge and the complexity that comes from long maturation. On the palate, it is silky and beautifully composed, with Chardonnay bringing brightness and lift, while Pinot Noir contributes structure, length, and subtle power. The finish is exceptionally long, elegant, and mineral-driven, with enough freshness to support further ageing for many years; in a Jeroboam, the wine’s development will be especially graceful.

Production
Cristal is produced only in outstanding years from carefully selected Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes sourced from Louis Roederer’s top vineyard holdings in Champagne. The fruit is harvested at perfect maturity, then vinified with great precision before the wine spends around six years ageing in the cellar, followed by an additional eight months after dégorgement to achieve its signature harmony and refinement.

Food & Serving
Cristal 1999 is ideal with refined dishes such as lobster, scallops, turbot, sushi, or poultry with delicate cream sauces, as well as aged hard cheeses. Serve well chilled, around 8–10°C, and consider opening it in advance only if needed; a light decant is generally unnecessary and should be avoided unless the wine is very reserved on opening.
