Les Fiefs de Lagrange is the second wine of Château Lagrange, offering a more approachable expression of one of Saint-Julien’s most respected estates. From the outstanding 2000 vintage, it combines classic Left Bank structure with the elegance and finesse that have made Bordeaux wines from this appellation so sought after.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a deep ruby colour with some mature garnet reflections, reflecting its age and development. The nose often opens with blackcurrant, plum, cedar, tobacco leaf, and subtle earthy spice, with the 2000 vintage adding extra depth and warmth. On the palate, it is usually medium to full-bodied, with refined tannins, balanced acidity, and layers of dark fruit, graphite, dried herbs, and gentle oak influence. The finish should be smooth and persistent, with enough structure for further bottle aging, though it is now drinking beautifully.

Sourced from the vineyards of Château Lagrange in Saint-Julien, the wine benefits from the gravelly soils of the Left Bank, which lend precision, drainage, and the classic Cabernet Sauvignon-driven profile associated with the appellation. The second wine is made from selected plots and younger vines, harvested with attention to ripeness and balance. Vinification follows traditional Bordeaux methods, with fermentation and élevage designed to preserve freshness, structure, and the estate’s signature style.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for roast lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, game birds, and mushroom-based dishes. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for 30–60 minutes if the bottle has been stored well, especially to help the wine open and soften its more mature edges.
