Description

Leroy Bourgogne 'Fleurs de Vignes' is a rare opportunity to experience the hallmark elegance of one of Burgundy’s most iconic domaines in a more approachable, regional expression. Drawn from carefully selected parcels across Burgundy and crafted under the uncompromising eye of Lalou Bize-Leroy, this white wine offers a glimpse into the finesse and precision that have made Leroy a benchmark name worldwide. These are late-release bottles, matured for years in the domaine’s own cellars before being offered to the market in 2022, adding an extra layer of harmony and refinement.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, Leroy Bourgogne 'Fleurs de Vignes' typically shows a pale to medium lemon-gold hue, a subtle clue to its time resting in bottle. The nose is pure and intensely detailed, with lifted floral notes reminiscent of acacia and white blossom, intertwined with citrus zest, crisp green apple, and hints of ripe stone fruit. Underneath lie subtle layers of chalk, hazelnut shell, and a delicate creaminess, a signature of top-tier white Burgundy. On the palate, the wine is precise yet generous, with a silken texture carried by vibrant, mineral-driven acidity. Expect flavors of lemon curd, pear, and white peach, framed by a gentle saline edge and nuanced tones of fresh butter and toasted brioche from élevage. The balance between tension and richness suggests a Bourgogne Blanc of unusually high pedigree, with a long, graceful finish that lingers on citrus oils and chalky minerality. Thanks to its extended time in Leroy’s own cellars before release, it arrives at a beautiful point of drinkability, with enough structure and freshness to continue evolving gracefully over the next several years, depending on the specific vintage.

Production
Leroy Bourgogne 'Fleurs de Vignes' is sourced from select vineyards across Burgundy, where limestone- and clay-rich soils underpin the wine’s finely etched minerality and tension. Farmed according to strict biodynamic principles, the vines are tended with meticulous care, and yields are kept very low to concentrate flavor and express terroir with maximum clarity. Harvest is carried out by hand, with rigorous sorting ensuring only pristine fruit reaches the cellar. In keeping with Leroy’s philosophy, vinification is minimalist yet exacting: gentle pressing, native yeast fermentations, and élevage in carefully chosen oak barrels allow the wine to develop texture and complexity without losing its precision or purity. The additional years spent resting in Domaine Leroy’s cool, perfectly managed cellars before the 2022 release contribute to the wine’s remarkable poise on release.

Food & Serving
This refined white Burgundy is an ideal partner for elegant, subtly prepared dishes: think poached turbot or sole, scallops with a light butter or citrus sauce, fine shellfish, roast chicken with herbs, or creamy risottos based on seafood or wild mushrooms. It also shines alongside soft-ripened cheeses such as Brie, Coulommiers, or a young, creamy goat cheese, where its acidity cuts through richness and its minerality adds lift. Serve chilled but not too cold, ideally around 10–12°C (50–54°F), to allow the aromatics to fully unfold. A brief decant of 20–30 minutes, or simply opening the bottle slightly before serving, can help the wine open up and reveal its full spectrum of floral and mineral nuances.

Producer
Domaine Leroy is one of Burgundy’s true legends, often mentioned in the same breath as names like Domaine de la Romanée-Conti and Armand Rousseau. Founded on the négociant roots of Maison Leroy, established by François Leroy in the late 19th century, the domaine as it is known today was shaped by the vision of Lalou Bize-Leroy, who formally founded Domaine Leroy in 1988. Lalou has been a pioneer of biodynamic viticulture in Burgundy, adopting a vineyard-first philosophy long before it was fashionable, with an almost obsessive attention to every detail from vine to bottle. With tiny holdings, extremely low yields, and an unwavering pursuit of quality, Domaine Leroy produces some of the most coveted and collectible wines in the world. Revered for their complexity, finesse, and extraordinary aging potential, Leroy wines have become a global reference point for what Burgundy can achieve at its very highest level.
