L’Aventure Cuvee Estate 2020

L’Aventure Cuvée Estate 2020 is a powerful Paso Robles red that sits at the very top of what California can deliver. Crafted by winemaker Stephan Asseo from a Rhône-Bordeaux inspired blend, it combines richness, structure, and polish in a style that is unmistakably Californian. A wine of this caliber reflects both the estate’s ambition and Paso Robles’ rise as one of the country’s most exciting fine-wine regions.

Tasting Notes
Deep ruby in the glass, this wine opens with concentrated aromas of blackcurrant, blueberry, blackberry, plum, violets, and a subtle tar-like note. On the palate it is bold and sun-ripened, with generous dark fruit wrapped in firm yet refined tannins and a lively thread of acidity that keeps everything in balance. The finish is long, intense, and layered, with enough depth to reward patience. While it is already impressive, a few years in bottle will only enhance its complexity and harmony, making it an excellent candidate for cellaring.

Production
The fruit comes from sustainably farmed vineyards in Willow Creek, one of Paso Robles’ most prized areas for premium red wines. The blend is composed of 50% Syrah, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 15% Petit Verdot, bringing together Rhône and Bordeaux varieties in a distinctly expressive California style. After harvest, the wine spent 15 months aging in French oak, including 81% new barrels, giving it added structure, spice, and richness.

Food & Serving
This is a wine that shines alongside grilled ribeye, braised short ribs, lamb chops, venison, or richly seasoned barbecue. It also pairs well with aged hard cheeses and hearty mushroom dishes. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if drinking young to let the wine fully open.
