On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, precise, and tightly knit, with a core of pure, dark Cabernet fruit supported by finely grained, persistent tannins. Production
Château Latour sits on the prime terroir of Pauillac, on the Left Bank of the Gironde, where deep gravel soils over clay and limestone provide superb drainage and naturally limit yields, concentrating flavor in the grapes. The vineyard is dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot completing the classic Bordeaux blend, all cultivated with meticulous parcel-by-parcel care. Harvest is carried out by hand, with strict sorting both in the vineyard and at the winery to ensure only the finest fruit makes it into the Grand Vin. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled vats, allowing for precise extraction of color, tannin, and aromatics, followed by aging in high-quality French oak barrels (a large proportion new) for around 18–20 months. Throughout, Latour’s focus is on expressing the power and character of its historic terroir with clarity, elegance, and longevity.
