Description
Château Latour 2010 is one of Pauillac’s great modern-classic vintages, combining the estate’s trademark power, precision and longevity. As a 1er Grand Cru Classé, it stands at the very top of Bordeaux’s hierarchy and is prized for its depth, structure and remarkable ageing potential.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep, almost opaque garnet core with subtle purple reflections, hinting at its concentration and youthful energy. The nose is layered and refined, opening with blackcurrant, blackberry, cedar, graphite and cigar box, followed by notes of violets, dark chocolate and crushed earth.
On the palate, it is full-bodied and tightly structured, with impressive tannins wrapped around dense black fruit, liquorice, tobacco and mineral nuances. The finish is long, precise and persistent, suggesting a wine built for decades of evolution rather than immediate gratification. While enjoyable now with sufficient decanting, it has the capacity to age beautifully for many years, gaining even more complexity and finesse over time.
Production
Château Latour is located in Pauillac, on Bordeaux’s left bank, where deep gravel soils and excellent drainage help the vines produce fruit of great concentration and freshness. The estate’s historic vineyard, including the famed Enclos, benefits from a terroir uniquely suited to Cabernet Sauvignon, which typically forms the backbone of the blend. The grapes are harvested with meticulous care, and vinification is carried out with a focus on precision, extraction and balance to preserve the estate’s signature power and elegance.
Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with premium cuts of beef, roast lamb, game, duck breast and richly flavored dishes with truffle or mushroom elements. It also complements aged hard cheeses and slow-braised meats. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for several hours if drinking young to allow the aromas and structure to open fully.
Producer
Château Latour is one of Bordeaux’s most iconic estates and has long been regarded as a benchmark for fine Pauillac. Classified as a First Growth in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification, it is celebrated worldwide for producing wines of exceptional depth, consistency and longevity. The château’s reputation has made it one of the most sought-after names in the fine wine world.
