Description
Château Lascombes 2017 is a polished Third Growth from Margaux, offering the charm and refinement you expect from one of the appellation’s most admired estates. Known for its generous style, it combines classic Bordeaux structure with ripe fruit and a supple, modern feel. As a 3ème Grand Cru Classé from the historic 1855 classification, it carries both pedigree and collectability.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a deep ruby color with youthful violet reflections. The nose is expressive and layered, with dark berries, black cherry, plum, cedar, graphite, floral notes, and a hint of spice and tobacco.
On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied with ripe fruit, finely woven tannins, and a balanced line of freshness that gives definition to the finish. Expect a smooth texture, notes of cassis, blackberry, cocoa, and subtle oak spice. While approachable in its youth, it has the structure to develop gracefully over the next 10–15 years, gaining complexity and more tertiary notes with time.
Production
This wine comes from the Margaux appellation in Bordeaux, an area known for its deep gravel soils, excellent drainage, and conditions that favor elegance and aromatic complexity. The estate’s vineyards benefit from the moderating influence of the nearby Gironde estuary, helping the grapes ripen evenly while preserving freshness. Vinification follows a careful Bordeaux château approach, with parcel selection and maturation in oak barrels to build structure, texture, and ageability.
Food & Serving
A great match for roast lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, game birds, or mushroom-based dishes. It also works beautifully with hard cheeses such as aged Comté or Tomme. Serve at 16–18°C, and if opening young, decant for 1–2 hours to allow the wine to open fully and soften its tannins.
Producer
Château Lascombes is one of the leading estates in Margaux and has long been recognized for producing wines that combine power, finesse, and accessibility. Elevated to Third Growth status in the 1855 Classification, it has remained an important name in Bordeaux and a benchmark for the appellation. Over the years, the estate has built a strong reputation for consistently expressive wines with clear regional identity.
