Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a deep ruby core with a polished, youthful sheen. The nose is expected to be expressive yet poised, with blackcurrant, dark cherry, cedar, violets, graphite, and subtle spice from oak aging. On the palate, this is usually a medium- to full-bodied Saint-Julien with fine tannins, vibrant acidity, and a beautifully balanced core of dark fruit, savory tobacco, pencil shavings, and mineral notes. The 2020 vintage should give it impressive concentration and length, with excellent aging potential over the next 10 to 20 years, and likely longer in a good cellar.

Lagrange is located in the Saint-Julien appellation of Bordeaux’s Left Bank, where gravelly soils provide excellent drainage and help Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot achieve ripeness and structure. The estate is known for careful vineyard management and selective harvesting, with grapes typically vinified parcel by parcel to preserve precision and site expression, followed by maturation in oak to add texture, complexity, and aging depth.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with roast lamb, beef fillet, duck breast, venison, and mushroom-based dishes, as well as hard cheeses like Comté or aged Gouda. Serve at around 16–18°C and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if opening young, to allow the wine to fully unfold.
