Tasting Notes
In the glass, the 2016 Lafite Rothschild shows a deep, youthful colour that hints at its concentration and power. The nose is beautifully layered, with blackcurrant, cedar, graphite, tobacco leaf and incense, alongside floral and mineral nuances that bring real lift and sophistication. On the palate, it is full-bodied, dense and structured, yet remarkably elegant, with ripe dark fruit, finely integrated oak and a long, persistent finish. The tannins are abundant but polished, giving the wine both immediate appeal and extraordinary aging potential. This is a classic long-term cellar wine that should evolve gracefully for decades, with 50 years or more not out of the question.

Production
Château Lafite Rothschild is located in Pauillac, in the gravelly heart of Bordeaux’s Médoc, where excellent drainage and warm but moderated conditions are ideal for Cabernet Sauvignon. The estate works with strict yield control, hand harvesting and careful vineyard management throughout the year, using minimal chemical inputs and traditional practices to preserve vine health and terroir expression. The Grand Vin is crafted from carefully selected parcels, with fermentation and élevage designed to emphasize finesse, structure and purity of fruit.

Food & Serving
This wine calls for refined dishes such as roast lamb, beef fillet, duck breast, venison or truffle-based preparations, as well as aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16-18°C, and consider decanting for several hours if opening it now, especially in its youth, to allow the aromas and structure to open fully.
