Description

Labruyère Prieur Sélection Charmes-Chambertin 2013 is a refined Grand Cru Burgundy that showcases the depth and elegance of 100% Pinot Noir from one of the Côte de Nuits’ most coveted sites. Sourced from the southern end of the Grand Cru corridor and shaped by the house’s meticulous élevage, it reflects both the character of Charmes-Chambertin and the heritage of one of Burgundy’s historic domaines.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a deep ruby color with inviting garnet highlights, hinting at both richness and finesse. The nose is layered and expressive, often offering ripe red and dark berries, rose petal, forest floor, spice, and subtle oak complexity from its generous barrel aging. On the palate, expect a silky, supple texture with fine tannins, impressive depth, and a balanced interplay of fruit, minerality, and savory nuance. The wine’s structure suggests excellent aging potential, and while approachable with air, it should continue to develop gracefully over many years, gaining earthier, more tertiary Burgundy complexity.

Production
Charmes-Chambertin lies on steep east-facing slopes in the southern part of the Grand Cru zone, where Burgundy’s classic limestone-rich soils and ideal exposure help Pinot Noir ripen with precision and elegance. The wine is made from 100% Pinot Noir, and the estate uses a substantial proportion of new French oak each year—typically 50 to 80%—to frame the wine without overpowering its terroir-driven character.

Food & Serving
This is a natural partner for poultry with rich sauce, lamb, red meats, and mild cheeses. Serve it at around 16-18°C, and consider decanting for 1-2 hours if enjoying it young to help the aromatics open and the texture soften.

Producer
Domaine Jacques Prieur was established in 1868 in Bligny-lès-Beaune and has built a reputation around a remarkable mosaic of Burgundy terroirs, including prestigious appellations and three monopole Clos sites. Today, the estate is led by the Labruyère family alongside the Prieur heirs, continuing to champion the great terroirs of Burgundy with strong international recognition and a deep commitment to quality.
