La Spinetta’s Barbera d’Asti Superiore Ca di Pian is a vivid expression of one of Piedmont’s most iconic native grapes, showing the variety’s natural freshness, depth and charm in a polished, modern style. Organic in approach and marked by La Spinetta’s signature precision, it combines ripe fruit, structure and elegance in a way that has made Ca di Pian one of the estate’s most recognizable wines.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep garnet-red color with violet reflections, hinting at both ripeness and energy. The nose is generous and inviting, with notes of morello cherry, plum and dark berry fruit, lifted by subtle floral tones and a vinous, earthy undertone. On the palate, the wine is fruit-driven and fresh, with the lively acidity that defines great Barbera balancing its 14.5% alcohol and giving the wine real shape. Tannins are present but well integrated, supporting a supple, complex finish. While delicious now, it should also develop gracefully over the next several years, gaining more nuance and harmony with time.

Production
Ca di Pian comes from Piedmont, where Barbera thrives in soils and a climate well suited to preserving acidity while building aromatic intensity and concentration. The organically farmed vineyards are harvested with care to ensure healthy, ripe fruit, and the vinification is aimed at preserving Barbera’s natural freshness while adding texture, depth and complexity.

Food & Serving
This is a versatile food wine, excellent with roasted meats, braised beef, pasta with rich tomato or meat sauces, mushroom dishes and aged cheeses. Serve it at around 16–18°C, and decanting for 30–60 minutes is recommended to allow the wine to open fully and show its aromatic range.
