Description

La Mondotte Grand Cru Saint-Émilion 2014 is a distinguished Bordeaux wine from one of the appellation’s most admired small estates, known for producing concentrated, finely structured wines with real presence. As a Grand Cru from Saint-Émilion, it reflects both the pedigree of the region and the meticulous attention that has made La Mondotte a name to watch among collectors.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, expect a deep, dark ruby color with excellent intensity. The bouquet typically opens with ripe black fruits, plum, graphite, violets, cedar, and subtle earthy notes, all wrapped in polished oak spice. On the palate, the wine is likely to be full-bodied and layered, combining dark berry fruit with firm but refined tannins, bright acidity, and a long, persistent finish. The 2014 vintage should now be entering an attractive drinking window, but it also has the structure to continue developing complexity over the coming years.

Production
La Mondotte comes from Saint-Émilion on Bordeaux’s right bank, an area known for its clay-limestone soils that suit Merlot and Cabernet Franc particularly well. The estate is small and highly regarded, with production typically focused on low yields and careful vineyard work to maximize concentration and precision. Vinification is generally carried out with a modern, detail-oriented approach, aiming to preserve purity of fruit, texture, and the distinct sense of terroir.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with roast lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, mushroom dishes, or aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if opening young, or simply to help the wine fully express its aromatics and texture.

Producer
La Mondotte is a prestigious Saint-Émilion estate with a strong reputation for crafting highly expressive, limited-production wines. It has earned recognition for the quality and consistency of its Grand Cru outputs, and is valued by Bordeaux enthusiasts for its concentration, elegance, and age-worthy style.
