Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine shows a healthy opaque blue-purple core with no sign of age at the rim, underscoring its youthful vitality. The nose is complex and highly expressive, unfolding with chocolate, cedar, truffle, graphite, blackberry, cassis, incense, black cherry, black olive, mineral notes, and a touch of cigar box. The palate is full-bodied yet refined, with superb purity, sweet tannins, vibrant acidity, and a multilayered texture. It finishes with impressive tension, length, and a linear drive that suggests the wine still has many years ahead; drinkable now, but capable of continuing to evolve beautifully through the coming decades.

Production
Château La Mission Haut-Brion sits in Graves on a carefully tended 29-hectare estate, where 25 hectares are planted to red varieties and 4 hectares to white. The terroir and meticulous vineyard work are central to the wine’s character, while harvest is carried out by hand in the cool hours before dawn to preserve freshness and reduce oxidation. In both vineyard and cellar, fruit undergoes rigorous sorting before vinification, reflecting the estate’s uncompromising approach to quality.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with roast lamb, beef fillet, duck breast, game, truffle dishes, and richly flavored mushroom preparations. Serve at around 16–18°C and decant if drinking now; while not strictly necessary for every bottle, a few hours of aeration will help reveal the wine’s full aromatic range and polished structure.

Producer
Château La Mission Haut-Brion is one of Bordeaux’s historic great estates, with origins tracing back to the 1500s. After the Woltners’ ownership in the 20th century, Clarence Dillon acquired the château in 1983, revitalized the vineyards, and completed a new cellar in 1987, followed by further renovations in 2007. In 2009, it was recognized as a Premier Cru in the updated Liv-Ex Bordeaux classification, reinforcing its place among the elite names of the region.
