Tasting Notes
Deep golden in the glass, with fine, persistent bubbles that speak to its long maturation. The nose is intensely layered, unfolding with dried fruit, honey, caramel, toasted nuts, and spice, lifted by a subtle mineral edge. On the palate it is full-bodied yet elegant, balancing mature richness with freshness, and revealing notes of brioche, vanilla, and tobacco. The finish is exceptionally long and persistent, and the wine still has the potential to evolve further in bottle.

Production
Sourced from the Champagne region, where the 1990 growing season offered near-perfect conditions, this wine was made from optimally ripe grapes with excellent balance and concentration. Krug’s meticulous approach to blending Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier emphasizes both power and refinement, while extended aging on the lees and in bottle has given the Champagne its signature complexity and depth.

Food & Serving
Ideal with refined dishes such as lobster, scallops, truffle risotto, roasted poultry, or aged hard cheeses. Serve chilled at around 10–12°C to allow its complexity to open gradually. Decanting is not usually necessary, but a short aeration in the glass can help reveal its evolving aromatics.
