Krásná Hora, Herr Gewürtz, 2023

Krásná Hora Herr Gewürtz 2023 is a characterful orange wine from southern Moravia, made from Tramín červený (Gewürztraminer) and crafted to show a pure, expressive sense of place. Spontaneously fermented on the grape skins with minimal sulphur and no filtration, it offers a vivid, natural style that reflects both the variety’s aromatic personality and the terroir of Starý Poddvorov.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it appears clear and lightly orange with a gentle natural haze. The nose is intensely aromatic, with notes of rose petals, lychee and a subtle hint of bread crust and spice. The palate is full-bodied and concentrated, yet kept lively by fresh acidity and a light tannic frame. Layers of tropical fruit bring both lift and depth, making this an energetic orange wine with immediate charm and the structure to develop well over the next few years.

Production
Herr Gewürtz comes from Starý Poddvorov in southern Moravia, where Krásná Hora works organically and with a strong focus on expressing vineyard character. The wine is spontaneously fermented on the skins, with minimal sulphur used and no filtration, resulting in a textured, living wine that stays close to the raw material and the vintage.

This wine is a great match for spicy Asian dishes, mature cheeses and hearty vegetarian plates, especially where aromatic ingredients or gentle heat are involved. Serve slightly chilled, around 10–12°C, and consider a brief decant if you want the aromas to open up further.
