Description
Jo Landron Vin Mousseux Atmosphères Méthode Traditionnelle Extra Brut is a finely crafted Loire sparkling wine that showcases precision, purity and refreshing drinkability. Made primarily from the native Folle Blanche grape, it offers a vibrant, ultra-dry style that’s as food-friendly as it is aperitif-ready. This cuvée reflects the long tradition of sparkling wine production in the western Loire, interpreted through Landron’s meticulous, terroir-driven approach.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, Atmosphères presents a pale straw hue with a fine, persistent bead and an elegant, creamy mousse. The nose is bright and expressive, with notes of green apple, lemon zest, crushed pear and white flowers, underpinned by subtle chalky and saline nuances.
On the palate, this Extra Brut shows a taut, linear profile with mouthwatering acidity and a distinctly mineral backbone. Citrus fruits, crisp orchard apple and hints of fresh bread dough and almond glide across the tongue, finishing long, dry and invigorating. The low dosage keeps the wine focused and pure, making it especially appealing to those who enjoy a leaner, more terroir-driven sparkling style. Enjoy it over the next 3–5 years for maximum freshness and vibrancy.
Production
Sourced from vineyards in the Loire, Jo Landron’s Atmosphères is rooted in cool Atlantic-influenced terroirs with predominantly sandy and gravelly soils over rock, ideal for producing lively, aromatic Folle Blanche. Grapes are harvested by hand to ensure careful selection and preserve the natural acidity that is key to high-quality sparkling wine. Vinification follows the traditional method (Méthode Traditionnelle): a first fermentation in tank, followed by a second fermentation in bottle to create the natural bubbles. The wine then rests on its lees to build texture and complexity before being disgorged with a very low dosage, resulting in an Extra Brut profile that highlights the grape’s purity and the minerality of its origins.
Food & Serving
This crisp, dry Loire sparkler is a natural partner to oysters, shellfish platters, sushi, lightly fried seafood, and delicate white fish dishes. It also works beautifully with fresh goat cheese, salty appetizers and simple tapas. Serve well-chilled at around 8–10°C to emphasize its tension and finesse. A brief 5–10 minutes in the glass is enough for the aromas to open; extended decanting is not necessary, as the charm of Atmosphères lies in its freshness and lively effervescence.
