Description

Jermann Pinot Bianco 2023 is a refined Italian white that captures the crystalline freshness and precision for which Friuli-Venezia Giulia is renowned. Crafted by Jermann—today part of the Antinori family’s portfolio—it offers a pure, focused expression of Pinot Bianco that is both immediately charming and quietly complex. This wine stands out for its balance between vibrant fruit, mineral tension and an elegant, almost Burgundian sense of finesse.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, Jermann Pinot Bianco 2023 shows a bright straw-yellow color with greenish highlights that speak to its youth and freshness. The nose is clean, inviting and finely detailed, offering notes of white peach, pear, green apple and lemon zest, layered with hints of wild herbs, white flowers and a subtle saline, mineral lift. On the palate, it is dry, medium-bodied and beautifully poised, with lively acidity that carries the fruit in a long, precise line. Flavors of crisp orchard fruit, citrus, light stone fruit and a touch of almond are framed by a distinct mineral backbone, giving the wine both energy and structure. The finish is fresh, persistent and slightly savory, making it particularly food-friendly. While made to be enjoyed young for its vibrant aromatics, this 2023 has the concentration and acidity to develop added nuance over the next 3–5 years.

Production
Jermann sources its Pinot Bianco from carefully selected vineyards in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, a region prized for its cool nights, warm days and well-drained soils rich in marl and sandstone, which naturally enhance aroma and minerality. Grapes are typically harvested by hand to ensure gentle handling and optimal ripeness, with strict selection both in the vineyard and at the winery. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks to preserve the grape’s delicate aromatics and crisp profile, followed by maturation on the fine lees for added texture and complexity, without overt oak influence. The result is a wine that faithfully reflects its terroir: pure, linear and quietly sophisticated.

Food & Serving
This Pinot Bianco is a superb partner for delicately flavored dishes: think crudo, oysters, grilled prawns, seared scallops, or simply prepared white fish. It also pairs beautifully with vegetable risottos, light pasta with seafood, fresh goat cheese, mozzarella, and herb-driven starters such as salads with citrus or fennel. Serve well-chilled but not icy, ideally at 8–10 °C (46–50 °F), to allow its aromas and texture to unfold. Decanting is not necessary, but opening the bottle 10–15 minutes before serving and using medium-sized white wine glasses will help the wine express its full aromatic range.

Producer
Founded in 1881, Jermann has grown from a family estate into one of Friuli-Venezia Giulia’s most respected and influential wineries, widely credited with elevating the reputation of Italian white wines on the international stage. Now under the umbrella of Marchesi Antinori—one of Italy’s most historic and esteemed wine families—Jermann continues to operate with a strong focus on terroir-driven whites, precision winemaking and innovation. The estate is best known for benchmark wines such as Vintage Tunina, and its consistent quality has earned it a place among the top producers in the region. Jermann Pinot Bianco reflects this legacy of excellence, showcasing the house style of clarity, purity and elegant complexity.
