Description

Jacquesson Cuvée 743 Brut Magnum is a refined, terroir-driven Champagne that showcases the house’s precision and distinctive non-dosage style. Based on the 2015 vintage and blended from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier, it combines freshness, depth, and remarkable tension in a magnum format that further enhances its elegance and ageing potential. The Cuvée 700 series has become one of Champagne’s most respected interpretations of modern non-vintage Champagne, with each release built around a specific harvest and layered with reserve wines for added complexity.

Tasting Notes
Pale gold in the glass with a fine, persistent mousse, this Champagne opens with bright citrus, green apple, white flowers, and subtle brioche notes, gradually revealing hints of stone fruit, almond, and chalky minerality. On the palate it is precise and energetic, with a dry, vinous texture, vibrant acidity, and a long, saline finish that reflects both the cool-climate fruit and the absence of dosage. The magnum format supports slower evolution, giving the wine excellent potential to develop further complexity over time. While already expressive, it should gain more breadth, toastiness, and nuance with a few years of additional cellar age.

Production
Cuvée 743 is based primarily on the 2015 harvest and includes approximately 20% reserve wines from older vintages, adding depth and layering to the final blend. Around 60% of the fruit comes from Aÿ, Dizy, and Hautvillers in the Vallée de la Marne, while the remaining 40% is sourced from Avize and Oiry in the Côte des Blancs, creating a balance between richness and chalk-driven freshness. The wines are spontaneously fermented in large wooden casks, aged 36 months on lees, and disgorged without dosage to preserve purity and terroir expression.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent Champagne for oysters, shellfish, sashimi, crudo, and delicate seafood dishes, but it also pairs beautifully with roast chicken, risotto with Parmesan, or aged Comté. Serve chilled at 8–10°C, and while decanting is not necessary, a brief rest in the glass can help the wine open up and reveal its full aromatic range.

Producer
Champagne Jacquesson is one of the most admired grower-producers in Champagne, celebrated for its disciplined, terroir-focused approach and its willingness to push beyond conventional non-vintage Champagne styles. The house has earned a strong reputation for the Cuvée 700 series, which has become a benchmark for thoughtful blending, transparency, and finesse. Jacquesson’s commitment to low-intervention winemaking, reserve wine management, and precise expression has made it a standout name in the region.
