Description

Jacquesson Cuvée 741 Brut is a distinctive non-vintage Champagne built around the 2013 harvest, with the house’s signature emphasis on precision, depth, and terroir expression. Crafted without dosage and released in magnum format, it offers a particularly pure and layered take on Champagne that reflects the philosophy behind Jacquesson’s acclaimed Cuvée 700 series.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Champagne typically shows a fine, persistent mousse and a pale gold colour with bright, crystalline clarity. The nose is elegant and expressive, combining citrus, white flowers, green apple, toasted brioche, and subtle nutty notes, with added complexity from reserve wines and time on lees. The palate is dry, focused, and mineral-driven, with lively acidity framing flavours of ripe orchard fruit, lemon zest, biscuit, and chalky freshness. The absence of dosage gives the wine a particularly clean, incisive finish, while the magnum format supports graceful evolution over time. It can be enjoyed now for its freshness and tension, but it also has strong ageing potential for those who prefer a more developed, savoury profile.

Production
Cuvée 741 is based on the 2013 vintage and composed of 60% Chardonnay, 20% Pinot Noir, and 20% Pinot Meunier. The grapes come primarily from Jacquesson’s vineyard partners and holdings in Aÿ, Dizy, Hautvillers, Avize, and Oiry, spanning both the Vallée de la Marne and the Côte des Blancs. A portion of older reserve wines is added to bring extra depth and complexity. All grapes are spontaneously fermented in large oak casks, then the wine spends 36 months on lees in bottle before being disgorged without dosage. This approach highlights the character of the base vintage and the specific vineyard sites, while preserving freshness, texture, and a very dry, precise style.

Food & Serving
This Champagne is especially versatile at the table, pairing beautifully with oysters, sashimi, shellfish, sashimi, roast chicken, light poultry dishes, and refined vegetarian plates with mushroom or asparagus. Its dryness and mineral backbone also make it a strong match for aged hard cheeses and tempura-style dishes. Serve well chilled, ideally at 8–10°C, and decanting is not recommended.

Producer
Champagne Jacquesson is one of Champagne’s most respected independent houses, known for its artisanal approach, limited production, and strong focus on vineyard character rather than house style uniformity. Based in Dizy, the estate has earned a cult following among Champagne enthusiasts for its Cuvée 700 series, which changes with each release to reflect the character of a specific base year plus reserve wines. Jacquesson is widely admired for its precision, transparency, and uncompromising quality, and is considered a benchmark producer for terroir-driven Champagne.
