Description

J. Hofstätter De Vite 2024 is a vibrant, alpine white blend from the cool, sun-drenched slopes of Trentino-Alto Adige in Northern Italy. Crafted from Müller-Thurgau, Pinot Bianco and Sauvignon Blanc, it captures the precision and freshness that have made this region a benchmark for crisp, elegant whites. De Vite is conceived as an easy-drinking yet refined wine that showcases Hofstätter’s meticulous approach to blending and terroir expression.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, De Vite 2024 shows a pale straw-yellow color with greenish reflections, hinting at its youthful energy and mountain freshness. The nose is aromatic and lifted, combining the floral delicacy of Müller-Thurgau with the citrus and orchard fruit of Pinot Bianco and the zesty, herbal nuances of Sauvignon Blanc. Expect notes of white flowers, green apple, ripe pear, lemon zest, and a subtle hint of elderflower and fresh-cut herbs. On the palate, the wine is light to medium-bodied, clean and finely textured, driven by lively acidity and a distinct mineral backbone. Crisp citrus, juicy stone fruit and crunchy green apple are wrapped in a refreshing, almost saline finish that invites another sip. De Vite 2024 is crafted to be enjoyed in its youth for maximum aromatic intensity and tension; while it can develop for 2–3 years, revealing a touch more roundness and complexity, it is at its best within the first few years after release.

Production
The grapes for De Vite are sourced from hillside vineyards in Trentino-Alto Adige, where high altitudes, cool nights, and well-drained, mixed soils of limestone and porphyry help preserve acidity and aromatics. The fruit is typically harvested by hand to ensure gentle handling and precise selection of healthy, perfectly ripe clusters. In the cellar, each variety is vinified separately: gentle pressing, cool temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel, and maturation on fine lees to enhance texture and aromatic definition before the final blend is assembled. The focus is on purity, freshness and clarity, with no heavy oak influence, allowing the character of the grapes and the alpine terroir to shine.

Food & Serving
De Vite 2024 is an excellent partner for light, refined dishes such as grilled or poached white fish, shellfish, sushi, fresh goat cheese, summer salads and vegetable-based pastas or risottos. It also pairs beautifully with simple antipasti, cured trout or salmon, and mildly spiced Asian cuisine where its acidity and herbal lift provide balance. Serve well-chilled at around 8–10 °C (46–50 °F) for maximum freshness. Decanting is not necessary; simply open the bottle a few minutes before serving to let the aromatics unfurl in the glass.

Producer
The J. Hofstätter estate, founded in 1907 and based in the village of Tramin in Alto Adige, is one of the region’s most respected and historically important producers. Renowned for its precise, terroir-driven wines—especially Gewürztraminer and Pinot Nero—Hofstätter helped put Alto Adige on the international wine map by championing single-vineyard bottlings and meticulous vineyard management. With holdings on both sides of the Adige Valley, the winery uniquely accesses a range of exposures and elevations, allowing for nuanced, site-specific expressions. Over the decades, Hofstätter has earned a reputation for quality, consistency and innovation, making it a reference point for premium alpine wines from Northern Italy.
