Urbano is a single vineyard within the historic Barthenau estate on the Mazon plateau in Trentino-Alto Adige, an area renowned for its cool nights, warm days and well‑drained, clay‑ and limestone‑rich soils—ideal conditions for Pinot Nero. The grapes are hand‑harvested at optimal ripeness, with rigorous selection in the vineyard and at the winery to ensure only perfectly healthy, concentrated fruit is used. Fermentation typically takes place in temperature‑controlled stainless steel or open vats with gentle punch‑downs to extract color and tannin without harshness, followed by extended maturation in large oak casks and partly in smaller barrels to integrate structure while preserving purity of fruit and terroir expression.
