Hensel Höhenflug Spätburgunder 2022 is a polished German Pinot Noir that brings together late-harvest ripeness, elegant oak ageing, and a distinctly international style. Crafted with care from carefully selected Spätburgunder grapes, it offers impressive depth for the vintage, while still remaining fresh, refined, and approachable.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this red shows the graceful transparency typical of fine Pinot Noir, with an inviting, youthful brightness. The nose opens with juicy cherry, cranberry, cassis, and hints of tobacco, layered with warming spice cake and a subtle touch of mint. On the palate, it is soft and elegant with a silky texture and a finely integrated oak spice that speaks to the quality of the barrels used during maturation. The finish is long and memorable, closing with delicate notes of white chocolate. While already charming now, it has the structure and balance to develop further complexity over time.

Production
Made from late-harvested Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir), this wine is matured for around 20 months in oak barrels, giving it both structure and a refined spicy character. The extended ageing period adds depth and texture while preserving the grape’s natural finesse and fruit purity.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for poultry, especially roast chicken or duck, and also works beautifully with richer fish such as tuna and salmon. Serve slightly chilled at around 15–17°C, and consider decanting for 20–30 minutes if serving young to help the aromas open up fully.
