Gulfi Carjcanti Bio 2022 white

Gulfi Carjcanti Bio is a beautifully expressive Sicilian white made entirely from Carricante, the native grape of Etna and one of Italy’s most distinctive mountain varieties. Organic and quietly luxurious in style, it captures the warmth, herbs, citrus, and saline freshness of Sicily in a wine that feels both sun-kissed and finely structured.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, Carjcanti shows a deep gold-yellow hue that already hints at its richness and maturity. The bouquet is layered and evocative, opening with dried citrus peel, sultanas, beeswax, smoky almond, sage, hay, and floral herbal notes that recall a hot Sicilian summer landscape. On the palate, it is full-flavoured yet elegant, combining ripe texture with fresh acidity and a mineral edge that keeps it lively and focused. The year on fine lees in large oak adds depth and a subtle creamy breadth, while bottle aging brings extra complexity. It has the structure to age gracefully for several years, developing more honeyed, savory, and nutty nuances over time.

Production
Produced in Sicily from organically grown Carricante, Gulfi Carjcanti Bio reflects the island’s intense sun, coastal breezes, and aromatic Mediterranean landscape. The grapes are carefully harvested and then matured for one year on the fine lees in large oak casks, followed by several months of bottle rest, a vinification approach that builds texture, complexity, and balance while preserving varietal character.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent partner for grilled or roasted fish, shellfish, lemon-herb chicken, creamy pasta dishes, and Mediterranean vegetable plates. Serve it chilled but not too cold, ideally around 10–12°C, to allow its aromatic depth to show. Decanting is not essential, but a little air in the glass can help reveal its more layered, savory notes.
