Tasting Notes
In the glass, Guidalberto 2022 shows a deep, vibrant ruby red with youthful purple highlights along the rim. The nose is generous and refined, opening with ripe blackcurrant, dark cherry and plum, followed by notes of violet, Mediterranean herbs, cedar and a touch of tobacco and graphite that hint at its Bordeaux-inspired character. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied with a polished, supple texture. Ripe black and red fruits are supported by fine-grained tannins and a fresh, well-integrated acidity that keeps the wine lively and precise. Flavors of blackberry, cassis and sour cherry mingle with hints of cocoa, spice and a subtle savory note on the long, balanced finish. Production
Guidalberto is produced at Tenuta San Guido’s estate in Bolgheri, along the Tuscan coast, where maritime breezes, abundant sunshine and well-drained, stony soils create ideal conditions for Bordeaux varieties. The vines draw character from a mix of calcareous, clay and rocky soils that naturally limit yields and concentrate aromas and structure. Grapes are harvested by hand to ensure careful selection at optimal ripeness, then gently destemmed. Fermentation typically takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with maceration tailored to extract color, aroma and refined tannins rather than excessive power. The wine is then aged in French oak barriques (often partly used, to preserve fruit purity) for several months before bottling, allowing the components to harmonize while maintaining the vibrant, youthful profile that defines Guidalberto.

Guidalberto 2022 is a versatile food wine that pairs beautifully with grilled or roasted red meats, lamb chops, game birds, and classic Tuscan dishes such as bistecca alla fiorentina, wild boar ragù or pappardelle with meat sauce. It also complements aged hard cheeses, charcuterie and mushroom-based dishes. Serve at 16–18°C (60–64°F) for optimal expression. Younger bottles benefit from 30–60 minutes in a decanter to soften the tannins and open up the aromatic profile, while more mature bottles can be served directly after gentle pouring.
