Description

Château Gruaud Larose is one of Saint-Julien’s classic names, known for combining power, polish, and remarkable aging potential. Classified as a 2ème Grand Cru Classé in 1855, the estate has long been admired for producing deeply structured Bordeaux with a strong sense of place.

Tasting Notes
The 2015 vintage is typically expressed with a dark, concentrated appearance and an inviting, aromatic profile. Expect layers of blackcurrant, ripe plum, cedar, tobacco, graphite, and subtle earthy spice, all framed by refined oak and a distinctly Left Bank character. On the palate, Gruaud Larose 2015 is usually full-bodied and precise, with firm but well-integrated tannins, fresh acidity, and a long, mineral-driven finish. The wine has the structure to age gracefully for many years, developing greater complexity with time in bottle.

Production
Sourced from the gravelly soils of Saint-Julien, the wine benefits from a terroir that naturally promotes ripeness, balance, and excellent drainage. The estate is known for careful vineyard management and traditional, meticulous vinification designed to preserve purity of fruit, structure, and the signature elegance of the appellation.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for classic dishes such as roast lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, or game with mushroom-based sauces. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant for 1–2 hours if drinking young to allow the wine to open and soften.

Producer
Gruaud Larose has a long and respected history in Bordeaux, with origins dating back to the 18th century. Situated in Saint-Julien, the château is recognized as one of the appellation’s benchmark producers and has built its reputation on consistency, longevity, and a style that reflects the discipline and depth associated with the best Left Bank wines.
