Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby color with excellent concentration. The nose is layered and expressive, with dark cherry, blackberry, plum, Mediterranean herbs, cedar, tobacco, and subtle spice. On the palate, it is full-bodied and balanced, with ripe dark fruit, fine-grained tannins, fresh acidity, and a long, savory finish. The Sangiovese brings lift and definition, while Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot add structure and richness. This is a wine with excellent aging potential, likely to develop further complexity over the next 10–15 years.

Production
Grattamacco comes from one of the most distinctive sites in Bolgheri, where vineyards benefit from a mix of coastal breezes, warm Mediterranean sunshine, and varied soils that help create both ripeness and freshness. The estate is known for thoughtful vineyard work and careful harvesting to preserve balance and aromatic precision. The grapes are vinified separately to respect each variety’s character before blending, with maturation in oak to add complexity, texture, and polish without overpowering the fruit.
