Description
Gosset Champagne Grand Rosé Brut is a refined, non-vintage rosé that showcases the house’s signature tension, freshness and depth. Blending Chardonnay’s precision with Pinot Noir’s red-fruited charm, this cuvée offers a rosé Champagne that is both gastronomic and utterly elegant. As one of the region’s benchmark rosés, it brings together centuries of Gosset know‑how in a style that is vibrant, dry and food-friendly.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, Gosset Grand Rosé Brut shows a delicate, luminous salmon-pink hue with fine, persistent bubbles forming a graceful, steady mousse. The nose opens with wild strawberries, raspberries and redcurrants, layered with citrus peel, white flowers, and a touch of brioche and almond from extended lees aging.
On the palate, this Champagne is lively and precise, with a fresh, chalk-tinged acidity framing flavors of red berries, blood orange, pomegranate, and stone fruit. Subtle pastry notes, hints of ginger and a gentle spice add complexity, while the texture is mouthfilling yet finely sculpted. The finish is long, dry and saline, making it as suitable for the table as it is for an aperitif. As a non‑vintage cuvée built partly on reserve wines, it is ready to drink on release, but will evolve nicely for 3–5 years, gaining a bit more creaminess and nuance with time in the cellar.
Production
Gosset Grand Rosé Brut is crafted from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir sourced from carefully selected vineyards across the Champagne region, with a strong presence of premier and grand cru sites on predominantly chalk and limestone soils. Grapes are hand-harvested at optimal ripeness to preserve natural acidity and purity of fruit. True to Gosset tradition, fermentation takes place in stainless steel to retain freshness and avoid malolactic fermentation, which helps maintain the house’s hallmark tension and energy. A portion of still red Pinot Noir is blended in to achieve the rosé color and enhance aromatic intensity, followed by extended aging on the lees—often well beyond the legal minimum—before disgorgement and a finely judged Brut dosage that balances structure and elegance.
Food & Serving
This Grand Rosé Brut is extremely versatile at the table, pairing beautifully with dishes such as tuna or salmon tartare, grilled prawns, sushi and sashimi, roasted poultry, or charcuterie with delicate cured hams. It also works wonderfully with duck, veal in light sauces, and soft cheeses like Brie or mild goat’s cheese, and can complement berry-based desserts that are not overly sweet. Serve well chilled at around 8–10°C (46–50°F) to highlight its freshness and finesse. A brief 10–15 minutes in the glass or in a decanter designed for sparkling wine can help the aromas open up, but prolonged decanting is not necessary.
Producer
Founded in 1584 in Aÿ, Gosset is widely recognized as the oldest wine house in Champagne, originally established as a still wine producer before the advent of sparkling Champagne. Over the centuries, it has built a reputation for powerful, structured wines that remain remarkably fresh, thanks in part to its choice to avoid malolactic fermentation and to rely on high-quality vineyard sources. Gosset is particularly esteemed among sommeliers and enthusiasts for its gastronomic style of Champagne, and its cuvées consistently receive strong critical acclaim, cementing the house’s status as a benchmark producer in the region.
