Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Langhe Nebbiolo shows a luminous garnet hue with brick-red reflections at the rim, typical of the variety even in its youth. The nose is fragrant and expressive, with lifted aromas of violets and dried rose petals interwoven with ripe red cherries, redcurrants and wild berries. Subtle notes of licorice, sweet tobacco and a gentle spice hint add depth without overshadowing the delicate floral character. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied yet finely etched, with a vibrant, mouthwatering acidity that keeps the red fruit flavours bright and focused. Production
The grapes for Giuseppe Cortese’s Langhe Nebbiolo come from vineyards in the Langhe area surrounding Barbaresco, rooted in calcareous marl and clay soils that lend the wine its finesse, freshness and distinct mineral edge. Harvest is carried out by hand to ensure careful selection of perfectly ripe Nebbiolo bunches. After destemming, the must undergoes a traditional fermentation in stainless steel tanks, with around 15–20 days of skin contact to gently extract colour, tannin and aromatics. Once fermentation is complete, the wine is aged for approximately 12 months in large Slavonian oak casks, a classic Piedmontese approach that polishes the structure and adds subtle complexity without masking the purity of fruit. It then rests further in bottle before release, ensuring harmony and drinkability on arrival.

This Langhe Nebbiolo is a versatile partner at the table and pairs beautifully with classic Piedmontese dishes such as tajarin pasta with ragù, vitello tonnato, braised veal and mushroom-based recipes. It also complements roast poultry, pork loin, grilled lamb, risotto with truffle, and aged hard cheeses like Parmigiano Reggiano or Pecorino. For optimal enjoyment, serve at around 16 °C in large, tulip-shaped glasses. A short decant of 30–60 minutes is recommended to soften the tannins and allow the floral and spicy nuances to fully emerge, especially if opened in its youth.
