Description
Giacomo Borgogno Langhe Dolcetto Ancum 2024 is a classic Piedmontese red that shows the charm and immediacy of Dolcetto in a polished, cellar-worthy style. From one of Barolo’s most historic names, it offers bright fruit, supple structure, and a distinctly regional character that makes it an easy choice for both everyday enjoyment and thoughtful wine lists.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Dolcetto typically shows a deep ruby color with youthful purple reflections. The nose is inviting and expressive, with aromas of black cherry, plum, violets, and a subtle almond note that is so characteristic of the grape, often complemented by a hint of spice and earth.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied and dry, with juicy dark fruit, gentle tannins, and a fresh line of acidity that keeps the wine lively and balanced. Dolcetto is usually made to be enjoyed young, and Ancum 2024 should offer excellent drinking in its first few years, while retaining enough structure to develop a bit more nuance over short-term cellaring.
Production
Produced in Piedmont, where Dolcetto thrives on the region’s hillside vineyards, this wine reflects the cooler continental climate and varied soils that help preserve freshness and aromatic lift. Harvested at optimal ripeness, the grapes are vinified with care to emphasize fruit purity, color, and the grape’s naturally мягкая tannic profile, typically with temperature-controlled fermentation and measured maceration to avoid excess extraction.
Food & Serving
This is a versatile food wine, ideal with antipasti, cured meats, mushroom dishes, pasta with tomato or ragù, roasted poultry, and simple grilled meats. Serve slightly chilled, around 16–18°C, to bring out its freshness and aromatic detail. Decanting is generally not necessary, though a short airing can help if the wine is opened very young.
Producer
Giacomo Borgogno e Figli is one of Piedmont’s most historic producers, with roots dating back to the 18th century and a reputation built on traditional winemaking in Barolo. The estate is widely respected for preserving classic regional styles while maintaining a strong identity in some of the Langhe’s most important wines, making it a benchmark name for collectors and enthusiasts alike.
