Gambal Work Pinot Noir Bentrock 2018 is a beautifully crafted California Pinot Noir with a distinctly Burgundian sensibility. Born from the collaboration between Burgundy veteran Alex Gambal and longtime California winemaker Peter Work, it combines elegance, structure, and finesse with the bright fruit character of a cool-climate Santa Barbara County site.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Pinot Noir shows a graceful, translucent ruby hue typical of the variety. The nose is layered and aromatic, with notes of red cherry, raspberry, and strawberry lifted by earthy nuances of dried leaves, underbrush, and a subtle iron-tinged mineral edge. The palate is refined and finely textured, balancing juicy red berry fruit with savory, mineral-driven complexity. Its structure is precise without feeling heavy, and the wine finishes with a polished, slightly grippy edge that suggests excellent development over the next few years, while also making it highly food-friendly today.

This wine shines with dishes such as roast chicken, duck, quail, pheasant, or game birds, as well as mushroom-based dishes and lighter cuts of pork. Serve at around 14°C, and consider using large Burgundy-style glasses to let the aromatics open fully. Decanting is optional but can help the wine show even more beautifully, especially if opened young.
