Frescobaldi’s Castello di Pomino Pinot Nero is an elegant Tuscan red that brings together centuries of winemaking heritage and a distinctly modern approach in the cool hills of Pomino. With a refined blend of 95% Pinot Noir and 5% Sangiovese, it stands out for its finesse, freshness, and silky texture.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this wine shows a bright, polished ruby tone that hints at its elegance. The bouquet is layered and expressive, with red and dark berry aromas of blackberry, plum, blueberry, and cherry, lifted by subtle balsamic notes of mint and nutmeg. On the palate, it is vibrant yet supple, with a beautiful balance between fruit, freshness, and aromatic complexity. Fine-grained, silky tannins carry the wine toward a long, appetizing finish marked by tobacco and dark chocolate nuances. Thanks to its structure and careful élevage, it should continue to develop nicely over the next few years.

Production
The grapes come from the historic Pomino estate in Tuscany, a high-altitude area known for cooler conditions that help preserve freshness and aromatic precision. After harvest, the Pinot Noir was fermented in 60 hl conical oak vats at controlled temperature, with manual punch-downs and pressing in the early stages to encourage careful extraction of color and phenolics. Maceration lasted 13 days, followed by malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels and 15 months of ageing.

Food & Serving
This Pinot Noir is a versatile partner at the table, especially with roast poultry, duck, mushroom risotto, veal, and lightly spiced game dishes. Serve it slightly cool at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting briefly if enjoyed young to let its aromas open fully.
