Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine shows a deep ruby red hue with classic garnet reflections at the rim, a sign of graceful development. The nose is broad and refined yet intense, unfolding with notes of dried rose petals and violets, followed by tobacco leaf, wild berries, sweet spices and a gentle touch of vanilla from oak aging. On the palate, the texture is dense and enveloping, with firm, closely-knit tannins typical of Serralunga. The entry is surprisingly soft, almost velvety, then builds into a layered core of red cherry, raspberry and subtle plum, all lifted by a vibrant, refreshing acidity. Hints of licorice, dried herbs and spice emerge toward the back palate, leading to a very long, savory and flavorful finish. The 2013 Vigna La Rosa has many years ahead of it; well-stored bottles can comfortably evolve and gain complexity over the next 10–15 years or more.

Production
Vigna La Rosa sits on the slopes of Serralunga d’Alba, an area renowned for its compact calcareous-clay soils and south to southwest exposures that give Barolo its depth, minerality and structure. The Nebbiolo grapes are carefully harvested by hand to ensure only perfectly ripe clusters are selected. After gentle crushing, fermentation and maceration take place at controlled temperatures to extract color, aroma and tannin without harshness. The wine then spends an extended period maturing in oak and bottle, allowing its powerful structure to harmonize and its complex bouquet of flowers, spices and tertiary notes to fully develop.

Food & Serving
This Barolo is an excellent partner for rich, savory dishes such as braised beef (brasato al Barolo), slow-cooked lamb, game meats, truffle risotto and aged hard cheeses like Parmigiano Reggiano or mature Castelmagno. For best enjoyment, serve at 16–18°C (60–64°F). Decanting is recommended—around 1–2 hours—especially in its youth, to allow the tannins to soften and the aromatics to fully open.
