Fattoria Le Pupille’s Poggio Valente 2019 is a beautifully crafted 100% Sangiovese that captures the elegance and depth of Maremma in southern Tuscany. Sourced from a prized hillside vineyard in Pereta, it reflects both the modern vision of Elisabetta Geppetti and the pioneering spirit that helped put this region on the map for fine Tuscan reds.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows the poised, ruby-toned character you expect from Sangiovese, with a refined and vibrant presence. The nose opens with aromas of mature Marasca cherries, then moves into a more savory, Mediterranean profile with woodland herbs and a hint of wild forest. On the palate, the wine is elegant yet structured, with balanced acidity, well-integrated tannins, and a long, harmonious finish. It has the depth to age gracefully, gaining complexity over the next several years as the fruit softens and the tertiary notes become more pronounced.

Production
Poggio Valente comes from a single vineyard in Pereta, set at 280 meters above sea level with a southwest exposure and an average planting density of around 4,500 vines per hectare. The soils are a varied mosaic of clay and iron-rich subsoil mixed with gravel, giving the wine both power and finesse. Harvest takes place in late September, and the vinification is focused on preserving the purity and structure of Sangiovese.

Food & Serving
This wine shines with refined meat dishes, game, and well-prepared roasted or braised specialties. Serve it at 16–18°C; a short decant is recommended, especially if opened young, to allow the aromas and structure to fully open up.
