Description
Erick Schreiber Champagne Cuvée Prestige Brut is a refined grower Champagne that highlights the finesse and purity of the Côte des Bar in the southern Champagne region. Crafted from a classic trio of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier, it offers a beautifully balanced expression of fruit, minerality and tension. This cuvée is blended from multiple vintages to achieve consistent house style, with a focus on freshness and precision rather than heaviness.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, Cuvée Prestige Brut shows a bright, pale gold hue with fine, persistent bubbles forming an elegant mousse. The nose opens with notes of crisp green apple, pear and lemon zest, followed by hints of white flowers, fresh brioche, almond and a subtle chalky minerality.
On the palate, it is dry, lively and finely textured, with Pinot Noir bringing structure and red-fruit nuance, Chardonnay adding tension and citrus brightness, and Pinot Meunier contributing roundness and approachability. Flavors of orchard fruits, citrus, a touch of stone fruit and light pastry notes are carried by a precise, energetic acidity and a clean, mineral-driven finish. Enjoy it now for its vibrancy and charm; with a few years of careful cellaring, it will develop more autolytic notes of toast and hazelnut while maintaining its core freshness.
Production
Sourced from carefully tended vineyards in the Champagne region of France, Erick Schreiber’s Cuvée Prestige Brut reflects the distinctive terroir of chalk, limestone and clay that underpins the region’s hallmark tension and elegance. Grapes are hand-harvested at optimal ripeness to preserve acidity and purity of fruit before being gently pressed in whole clusters. The base wines are vinified separately by grape variety and parcel, then blended to achieve the desired balance and complexity. After the traditional second fermentation in bottle, the wine rests on its lees for an extended period to build texture, fine bubbles and subtle brioche notes, before disgorgement and dosage to the Brut level.
Food & Serving
This Champagne is a versatile partner at the table, ideal as an apéritif yet structured enough to carry through a meal. Pair it with oysters, shellfish platters, sushi, sashimi, smoked salmon or delicate white fish, as well as light poultry dishes, creamy cheeses and refined canapés. Serve well chilled at around 8–10°C (46–50°F) to preserve its freshness and aromatics. A brief 10–15 minutes in the glass is sufficient for it to open up; decanting is not necessary, but pouring into quality, tulip-shaped Champagne glasses will enhance its complexity.
Producer
Erick Schreiber is a small, quality-focused producer in the Champagne region, known for meticulous vineyard work and an emphasis on terroir-driven wines. Operating on a grower scale rather than as a large house, the domaine’s approach centers on low yields, careful hand-harvesting and thoughtful blending to showcase the character of each parcel. Over time, Erick Schreiber has earned a following among Champagne enthusiasts who seek authentic, finely crafted bottlings that reflect their origins, contributing to the growing recognition of independent grower-producers within Champagne.
