Description
Eric Taillet Champagne Renaissance Blanc de Meunier Extra Brut is a deeply expressive Champagne built entirely on old-vine Pinot Meunier, showcasing the grape’s renaissance with remarkable clarity and finesse. Aged for 72 months in the cellar, it offers a more serious, complex side of Meunier—dense, elegant, and beautifully refined.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it presents a refined, luminous appearance with a fine, persistent mousse. The nose is layered and compelling, with notes of orchard fruit, citrus peel, white flowers, and subtle brioche, followed by more nuanced hints of chalk, spice, and зрелated complexity from extended ageing.
On the palate, this Extra Brut is concentrated yet precise, combining Meunier’s natural roundness with striking freshness and a mineral-driven finish. The texture is creamy and tightly woven, with impressive depth and a long, elegant aftertaste. It is already highly enjoyable, but its balance and structure suggest it can continue to develop gracefully over time.
Production
Made from very old Pinot Meunier vines rooted in clay soils, this cuvée is crafted to highlight the grape’s ability to deliver depth, tension, and elegance rather than simple fruitiness. The long 72-month cellar ageing adds complexity and integration, while the Extra Brut style preserves the purity of the fruit and the distinct identity of the terroir.
Food & Serving
Ideal with refined dishes such as seafood, scallops, roast poultry, sushi, or creamy mushroom preparations. Serve chilled at 8–10°C to allow the wine’s precision and texture to shine, and decanting is not recommended for this style of Champagne.
Producer
Eric Taillet Champagne is a grower-producer in Champagne known for its focused work with Pinot Meunier and its commitment to expressing the character of the grape in a more terroir-driven, contemporary style. The house has earned recognition for elevating Meunier from supporting role to headline act, particularly through cuvées that emphasize old vines, depth, and ageing potential.
