Description
Edoardo Sderci Rosato 2020 is a lively, terroir-driven Tuscan rosé that showcases the purity and charm of Sangiovese in a beautifully delicate style. Crafted from organically farmed, hand-harvested grapes and made in a minimal-intervention, natural-wine approach, it captures the sun-soaked days and cool nights of the 2020 vintage in Toscana IGT. This is a thoughtfully made rosé that bridges classic Tuscan character with a contemporary, artisanal touch.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, the Rosato 2020 shows a pale, shimmering pink hue with a subtle copper glint, hinting at both freshness and a gentle, textural depth. The nose opens with vibrant aromas of wild strawberries, freshly picked raspberries and crunchy red cherries, layered with notes of citrus blossom, pink grapefruit zest and a faint herbal lift reminiscent of wild thyme.
On the palate, it is crisp, juicy and refreshingly dry, with a light to medium body that feels both airy and precise. Red berry fruit leads the way, supported by bright, mouthwatering acidity and a clean mineral line that runs through the mid-palate into the finish. A short rest on the lees adds a discreet creamy texture that softens the edges without sacrificing tension. This rosé is designed to be enjoyed in its youth, ideally within a few years of the vintage, when its aromatic intensity, energy and clarity are at their peak rather than for extended cellaring.
Production
The grapes for Edoardo Sderci Rosato 2020 come from small, carefully tended parcels in the Tuscan hills, where warm, sunny days are balanced by cooler nights, helping to lock in acidity and aromatic definition. Farming is organic and sustainable, in line with a natural-wine philosophy that prioritises soil health and biodiversity. The Sangiovese – complemented by a small proportion of local Tuscan varieties – is hand-harvested at optimal ripeness to retain freshness, then gently pressed at low temperatures to extract a delicate, pale colour and fine aromatics without excessive phenolics. Fermentation takes place in stainless-steel tanks to preserve purity of fruit and natural acidity, with no heavy oak influence. After fermentation, the wine rests briefly on its fine lees in tank, gaining a subtle creaminess and extra dimension before being bottled as a clean, expressive and unadorned expression of the vintage and place.
Food & Serving
This rosé is a natural fit for light, seasonal cuisine and Mediterranean-inspired dishes. Serve it alongside fresh salads with tomato and basil, grilled summer vegetables, chargrilled peppers or courgettes, simple pasta with seafood, grilled white fish, prawns and shellfish, or antipasti with olives and mildly creamy cheeses. It also works beautifully as an aperitif on warm days, thanks to its crisp profile and modest alcohol. For best enjoyment, serve well chilled at 8–10 °C. Decanting is not necessary, but opening the bottle a few minutes before serving and letting it warm very slightly in the glass will allow the red-berry and floral notes to fully emerge.
Producer
Edoardo Sderci is part of a new generation of Tuscan vintners focusing on small-scale, quality-driven, and environmentally conscious production. Working with organically cultivated vineyards and a low-intervention mindset, he aims to express the character of Sangiovese and local Tuscan varieties with clarity and authenticity rather than heavy cellar influence. Within the Toscana IGT category, his wines stand out for their finesse, purity and sense of place, reflecting both traditional respect for the land and a modern, artisanal approach. Although a relatively young name compared to the region’s historic estates, Edoardo Sderci is gaining recognition among enthusiasts seeking precise, honest, and terroir-focused Tuscan wines.
