DuMOL’s Dutton-Jentoft Vineyard Ryan 2022 is a distinctive single-vineyard Pinot Noir that captures the cool, coastal character of Sonoma with remarkable precision. Built from five different clones grown in sandy soils near the ocean, it delivers a rare mix of freshness, elegance, and depth that makes it especially compelling today.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows the translucent ruby hue typical of high-quality Pinot Noir. The bouquet is bright and layered, with red cherry, strawberry, and pomegranate lifted by rosemary, black pepper, and earthy nuances. The palate opens with red plum and blueberry, then moves into red apple, rhubarb, and spice, all carried by a fine, silky texture. The finish is long and graceful, with enough structure to age beautifully for another 10 years or more.

Production
This Pinot Noir comes from the Dutton-Jentoft Vineyard, a cool-climate site planted at elevation in sandy soils close to the Pacific coast. The vineyard’s maritime influence helps preserve acidity and aromatic purity, while the use of five different clones adds complexity and nuance. Winemaker Andy Smith matured the wine for 11 months in French oak, including 40% new barrels, giving the wine subtle richness without overpowering its delicate fruit profile.

A versatile partner for roast duck, grilled salmon, mushroom risotto, or herb-roasted chicken. Serve slightly chilled at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 20–30 minutes if you’d like the aromatics to open up further.
