Description

Château Duhart-Milon 2016 is a classic Pauillac from one of Bordeaux’s most respected appellations, offering the structure, finesse, and longevity collectors look for in a fine Left Bank red. As the sibling estate of Château Lafite Rothschild, it carries real pedigree and a long-standing reputation for producing elegant, Cabernet-led wines with unmistakable Pauillac character.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, the 2016 vintage typically shows a deep ruby-garnet color with impressive concentration. Aromatically, expect a refined bouquet of blackcurrant, cedar, graphite, pencil shavings, tobacco leaf, and subtle floral and spice notes, all wrapped in a polished, restrained style. On the palate, it is usually medium- to full-bodied with firm but well-integrated tannins, fresh acidity, and a core of cassis, dark cherry, blackberry, and savory earth. The finish is long and mineral, with the balance and structure to age beautifully for many years, often developing more complexity over 10–20 years or longer depending on storage.

Production
Duhart-Milon sits in Pauillac on Bordeaux’s Left Bank, where gravelly soils provide excellent drainage and help Cabernet Sauvignon ripen with precision and lift. The estate is known for careful vineyard management and harvest selection, with grapes typically picked plot by plot at optimal maturity to preserve balance and expression. Vinification is traditional and exacting, combining temperature-controlled fermentation with aging in French oak to shape the wine’s structure and refine its tannins.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with lamb, beef tenderloin, ribeye, duck breast, game, and classic French dishes such as entrecôte bordelaise or roast duck with herbs. It is best served at around 16–18°C, and decanting for 1–2 hours is recommended if opening young, to allow the aromatics to unfold and the tannins to soften.

Producer
Château Duhart-Milon is one of Pauillac’s historic estates and has long been associated with the Rothschild family, sharing the same elite winemaking standards as Château Lafite Rothschild. Its reputation in the region rests on producing graceful, terroir-driven wines that combine power with restraint. Over the years, the estate has earned recognition as a reliable and highly regarded Fourth Growth in the Bordeaux classification, admired for its consistency and class.
