Dominus Estate Othello 2019 is the third wine from the legendary Napanook vineyard, offering a more approachable expression of the estate’s famous terroir. Crafted in a classic Bordeaux blend and made with the same meticulous attention to detail that defines Dominus, it delivers the elegance, depth and precision of a serious Napa Valley red in a style that is inviting and enjoyable young.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, Othello 2019 shows an intense, bright red-black colour. The bouquet is pure and refined, with layered notes of cherry, blackcurrant, mocha and a subtle touch of vanilla. On the palate, it is deep and full-bodied, with silky tannins and an expressive, elegant finish that carries the fruit with finesse. While already attractive in its youth, the wine has the structure and balance to develop further over the coming years, gaining additional complexity and harmony with short- to medium-term cellaring.

Production
Othello is produced from Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot grown at the historic Napanook vineyard in California’s Napa Valley. The site is known for its warm, dry microclimate, and Christian Moueix applies a vineyard-first philosophy shaped by Bordeaux traditions, including careful parcel selection and hand harvesting. The sun-exposed side of the vines is picked several days before the shaded side, allowing for optimal ripeness across the vineyard. After destemming, the fruit is sorted both by hand and through an optical sorting system to ensure only the best berries reach the stainless-steel tanks. Following fermentation, the wine spends 14 months in French oak barrels, adding refinement without overshadowing the purity of the fruit.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with roasted lamb, grilled ribeye, beef tenderloin, game birds and rich mushroom dishes. It should be served at around 16–18°C, and a brief decant of 30–60 minutes is recommended to help the aromatics open up and soften the tannins.

Dominus was founded by Christian Moueix, one of Bordeaux’s most respected names, who brought his estate philosophy and deep vineyard expertise to Napa Valley. The project began with Dominus from the historic Napanook vineyard, followed by Napanook as the second wine and Othello as a more accessible third label. The estate has become a benchmark for Bordeaux-inspired winemaking in California, widely admired for its precision, restraint and unwavering commitment to vineyard expression.
