Dominus Estate Napanook 2015 is the more approachable expression from one of Napa Valley’s most respected estates, offering the pedigree and precision of Dominus in a softer, earlier-drinking style. Crafted from a Cabernet Sauvignon-led blend, it captures both the power of Napa fruit and the elegance that has made the estate a benchmark for the region.

Tasting Notes
Deep garnet to purple in the glass, this 2015 opens with an inviting aromatic mix of crème de cassis, plum preserves, violets and potpourri, layered with hints of dark chocolate, menthol, licorice and charcoal. The nose is expressive and polished, showing both ripe fruit and savory complexity. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied and densely packed with dark fruit compote and earthy nuances, framed by firm yet mature, fine-grained tannins. The finish is long and persistent, suggesting excellent drinking now with the structure to continue evolving over the next several years.

Production
Napanook comes from the historic Napanook vineyard in Yountville, one of the foundation sites of modern Napa Valley viticulture and a key part of Dominus Estate’s identity. The 2015 blend is 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc, and it was bottled in July 2017. The vineyard’s warm Napa terroir supports fully ripe fruit, while careful harvesting and precise cellar work preserve freshness, balance and the wine’s fine tannic structure.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with roasted beef, grilled lamb, braised short ribs, venison or mushroom-based dishes with depth and umami. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant for about 30–60 minutes if drinking young to allow the aromatics and texture to open fully.
