Domini Veneti Valpolicella Ripasso Classico Superiore Pruviniano 2020 is a polished, characterful Ripasso from the heart of Valpolicella Classica, crafted to highlight the distinctive fruit of the Marano Valley. Part of the Pruviniano collection, it draws on a historic vineyard area once known as Pruviniano until 1177, giving the wine an added layer of regional identity and heritage.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a deep ruby colour with a vibrant, inviting core. The nose leans toward ripe red and dark cherry, plum, dried fruit and sweet spice, often with subtle hints of cocoa, herbs and a gentle balsamic touch. On the palate, Ripasso brings extra depth and texture, with supple tannins, rounded fruit and a lingering, warming finish. The style is usually richer and more structured than classic Valpolicella, yet remains elegant and balanced. With good cellaring conditions, it can develop beautifully over the next few years, gaining complexity and softer spice notes.

Production
The Pruviniano wines focus on grapes grown in the Marano Valley within Valpolicella Classica, an area with a long viticultural history and a terroir well suited to expressive, concentrated wines. The vineyards benefit from the region’s hillside exposures and the distinct character of the valley, which help preserve freshness while building flavour concentration. As a Ripasso, the wine is made using the traditional second-fermentation method on Amarone grape skins, adding body, aroma and complexity before maturation.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs especially well with rich pasta dishes, mushroom risotto, roasted poultry, grilled meats, and aged cheeses. It is best served slightly below room temperature, around 16–18°C, and can benefit from 30 minutes of decanting to open up its aromas and soften the palate.
