Description
Domini Veneti Valpolicella Classico Superiore 2023 is a polished expression of the Verona hills, showing the elegance and freshness that make Valpolicella so beloved. Crafted from Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella by the historic Negrar cooperative, it combines local character with the winemaking know-how behind some of Veneto’s most iconic wines.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a bright ruby-red colour with an inviting, vibrant sheen. The nose is intense and persistent, opening on cherry and plum, with delicate violet notes and a subtle hint of black pepper that adds lift and complexity.
The palate is fresh and fruit-driven, yet carries an elegant sense of structure and substance. Balanced acidity and well-integrated tannins give the wine both energy and shape, while the stainless-steel ageing preserves its pure fruit character. It is ready to enjoy now, though it should hold well over the next few years.
Production
Made from manually harvested grapes picked from September to early October, this Valpolicella Classico Superiore reflects the terroir of the historic Classico zone around Verona. After harvest, the wine undergoes around 10 days of maceration with regular punch-downs, followed by full malolactic fermentation and ageing in stainless steel to preserve freshness and varietal purity. Natural stabilisation completes the process.
Food & Serving
This is an excellent partner for pasta with ragù, roasted or grilled red meats, and semi-aged cheeses. Serve it slightly cool, ideally around 16–18°C, to bring out its fruit and balance. Decanting is not essential, but a short aeration can help the aromas open up if served young.
Producer
Negrar - Domini Veneti was founded in 1933 and has become one of the leading names in Valpolicella, especially known for Amarone and appassimento wines. Rooted in the region’s winemaking tradition, the producer has built a strong reputation for quality and for showcasing the identity of Veneto’s vineyards. Its work has played an important role in defining Valpolicella on both the Italian and international wine stage.
