Domaine Tortochot’s Clos de Vougeot 2020 is a classic, terroir-driven Grand Cru from one of Burgundy’s most respected family domaines. Made from 100% Pinot Noir, it captures the depth, structure, and persistence that make Clos de Vougeot such an iconic name in the Côte de Nuits.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep dark purple color, hinting at its concentration and youthful power. The nose opens with aromas of brushwood, coffee, black fruit, and spicy nuances, leading into a palate that is rich, ample, and generously textured. Despite its charm, this is a serious wine with firm tannins and bright acidity that give it impressive structure and length. It is not meant for immediate consumption alone, but will reward patience and develop further complexity with time in bottle.

Production
Clos de Vougeot is known for its limestone-rich soils, with a top layer of clay-limestone gravel carried and deposited by running water. The depth of this gravel varies across the vineyard, creating subtle differences in expression from the upper to lower slopes. Domaine Tortochot farms and vinifies the wine in a style that aims to respect the vineyard’s character, producing a traditional, terroir-focused Gevrey-Chambertin expression with strong fruit, firm tannins, and vivid freshness.

Food & Serving
This wine is a natural partner for grilled dishes, whether generous and robust or simply prepared. It also pairs beautifully with both powerful and delicate game, and should be served after decanting for at least 30 minutes to 2 hours to allow the aromas and structure to fully open. Ideal serving temperature is around 16-18°C.

Domaine Tortochot is a fourth-generation family estate with deep roots in Gevrey-Chambertin, where the Tortochot family has been associated with viticulture for generations. Today, Chantal Tortochot, an oenologist and the great-granddaughter of Paul Tortochot, leads the domaine with a clear focus on continuity and expressing terroir as faithfully as possible. The estate is well regarded for its traditional, structured style of Burgundy and its commitment to producing wines with depth, character, and age-worthiness.
