Domaine Sylvain Morey’s Chassagne-Montrachet Vieilles Vignes Rouge 2023 is a beautifully lifted and vividly expressive Pinot Noir from one of Burgundy’s most admired villages for both whites and reds. Sourced from older vines across several central Chassagne parcels, it combines juicy fruit, finesse, and remarkable depth in a style that is unmistakably Sylvain Morey.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a clear ruby-red color with an elegant, transparent brightness. The nose is immediately inviting, offering strawberries, dark red raspberries, candied rose petals, and a touch of fresh herbs and fine spice. On the palate, the wine feels airy and weightless, yet it carries impressive fruit concentration and depth beneath its delicate frame. The tannins are soft and finely grained, and the mouthwatering acidity keeps everything lively and precise. This is a highly drinkable red Burgundy with enough structure to develop gracefully over the next several years, while its charm and balance make it delicious already now.

Production
This cuvée is blended from three parcels in central Chassagne-Montrachet: La Bresonne, which brings intensity and power; Les Chambres, adding generosity and juiciness; and Les Lambardes, contributing elegance, finesse, and freshness. The combination gives the wine its signature balance of lightness and depth, with old-vine material adding extra complexity. The grapes are 70% destemmed, and Sylvain Morey separates the free-run juice from the pressed juice to preserve delicacy while still building structure. The wine is aged for 20 months in 350L and 228L barrels, 20% of which are new, before being blended in stainless steel and rested for a further two months prior to bottling.

Food & Serving
Serve this wine slightly chilled, ideally at 12–14°C, in large Burgundy glasses to allow its ароматics and texture to open fully. It pairs beautifully with roast chicken, duck breast, veal, mushroom dishes, game birds, and earthy vegetarian plates such as truffle pasta or risotto.
