Domaine Roux’s Santenay Rouge Les Terrons 2022 is a classic expression of Pinot Noir from one of the Côte de Beaune’s most underrated communes. Blended from three sites, it offers a thoughtful snapshot of Santenay’s terroir and the style that has made the appellation so admired among Burgundy lovers.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Pinot Noir shows the inviting charm you’d expect from Santenay: fragrant, layered, and elegant rather than heavy. The nose opens with rose and violet, followed by notes of licorice and ripe forest berries, giving the wine a distinctly floral and subtly spicy profile. On the palate, it is supple and well-rounded, with a smooth texture and a long, gentle finish. The fruit feels ripe but not overblown, and the wine’s structure should allow it to age gracefully for several years, gaining additional nuance and softness with time.

Production
Les Terrons is sourced from three vineyard parcels—Les Crais, Les Prarons, and Les Champs Claude—spread across the eastern and western parts of Santenay. This gives the wine a broader view of the commune’s terroir, combining different exposures and soil influences to create a harmonious whole. The wine was matured for 16 months in oak barrels, with 15% new oak contributing subtle complexity without overpowering the Pinot Noir character.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent wine for richly flavored, braised dishes such as pork cheeks, oxtail, or similar slow-cooked preparations. It also works well with roast poultry, mushroom dishes, and earthy vegetable plates. Serve in spacious Burgundy glasses at around 14°C, and decant gently if the wine seems closed when first opened.
