Domaine Mia’s Mercurey Rouge 1er Cru Les Vasées 2021 is a finely poised Burgundy that combines dark, expressive Pinot Noir fruit with the mineral precision that makes Mercurey so compelling. Sourced from a south-facing Premier Cru site devoted entirely to Pinot Noir, it brings together ripe fruit, freshness, and elegance in a very classic, terroir-driven style.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep, youthful ruby color. The nose is layered and inviting, with ripe dark berries, forest floor, autumnal notes, and a subtle mineral edge that adds shape and tension. On the palate, the wine is supple yet structured, with concentrated dark fruit wrapped around a discreet, stony backbone. The tannins are gentle and refined, leaving a long, aromatic finish. It should develop beautifully over the next 5–8 years, gaining more earthy complexity and silkiness with time.

Production
The 1er Cru Les Vasées lies on a south-facing slope that gives the Pinot Noir excellent sun exposure and ideal ripening conditions. The soils are clay marl with a high proportion of limestone, helping to preserve freshness while building intensity and aromatic depth. After harvest, the wine was aged for 12–13 months in French oak barrels, with 25% new oak, adding subtle spice and texture without overpowering the fruit.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for roast poultry, duck, veal, mushroom dishes, and fine charcuterie, as well as more delicate game preparations. Serve at around 16–18°C, and if possible, decant for 30–45 minutes to allow the aromas to open and the texture to soften.
