Description
Domaine Méo-Camuzet Richebourg Grand Cru 2008 is a striking expression of one of Burgundy’s most celebrated Grand Cru sites, combining power, precision, and unmistakable pedigree. Made from Pinot Noir in the heart of Bourgogne, it offers the depth and structure collectors look for, while still showing the elegance and site-specific character that have made Richebourg legendary.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine shows a deep ruby color with garnet highlights, a sign of both maturity and complexity. The nose is layered and expressive, opening with black cherry, blackcurrant, and plum, then unfolding into violet, rose petal, truffle, leather, spice, and a subtle hint of toasted oak.
The palate is powerful and structured, with dense yet ripe tannins and bright acidity that keep the rich fruit in balance. Flavors of dark chocolate, licorice, forest floor, and a distinct mineral edge lead into a long, persistent finish. This is a wine with excellent aging potential and can be enjoyed now with aeration, though it will continue to gain nuance over the next 15–20 years.
Production
Richebourg is one of Burgundy’s most revered Grand Cru vineyards, known for producing wines of remarkable depth, concentration, and finesse. The 2008 vintage benefited from conditions that preserved freshness and structure, resulting in a wine with strong aging potential and a refined balance between fruit, acidity, and tannin. Vinification at Domaine Méo-Camuzet is geared toward preserving the character of the vineyard, allowing the terroir-driven complexity of this site to come through clearly.
Food & Serving
This wine is an excellent match for rich dishes such as game, roasted beef, lamb, or preparations featuring truffles and earthy mushrooms. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if drinking young to help the aromas and tannins open up fully.
Producer
Domaine Méo-Camuzet is one of the standout producers in Burgundy, widely respected for its meticulous approach and exceptional holdings in some of the region’s finest vineyards. Based in Vosne-Romanée, the domaine has built a strong reputation for wines of depth, elegance, and ageworthiness, and its Grand Cru bottlings are especially sought after by collectors and Burgundy enthusiasts alike.
