Description

Domaine Lagille Champagne Rosé Fleur de Meunier Brut is a characterful grower Champagne crafted entirely from Pinot Meunier, offering a vivid and expressive take on rosé from the heart of France’s Champagne region. This cuvée marries the charm of red-berried fruit with the finesse and energy that only top-quality Champagne can deliver. It’s an ideal choice for those seeking a more distinctive, artisanal alternative to the big houses, while still delivering all the elegance expected from a premium rosé Champagne.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, Fleur de Meunier Rosé shows a luminous salmon-pink to pale copper hue, animated by a fine, persistent mousse. On the nose, it opens with notes of wild strawberries, raspberries and redcurrants, intertwined with hints of blood orange zest, rose petals and a subtle chalky minerality, plus a gentle touch of brioche and spice from time on the lees. The palate is crisp yet generous, with juicy red berry fruit at the core – think fresh strawberries, pomegranate and cranberry – balanced by vibrant acidity and a delicate, creamy texture. Underneath the fruit, you’ll find nuances of citrus peel, white pepper and a light, savoury, almost herbal edge that keeps the wine feeling precise and refreshing. The finish is long, clean and dry (Brut), with lingering red-fruit and mineral notes. Enjoy it now for its vivid, primary fruit, though it has the structure to evolve gracefully over the next few years, gaining a bit more complexity and softness with short-term cellaring.

Production
Sourced from Pinot Meunier vines rooted in the cool, chalk- and clay-rich soils of the Champagne region, this rosé reflects the terroir’s natural tension between ripeness and freshness. The grapes are carefully harvested by hand to ensure optimal selection in the vineyard, preserving only perfectly healthy, flavour-packed bunches. Vinification typically involves either a short maceration on the skins or the addition of a small proportion of still red Meunier to achieve the delicate rosé colour, followed by a gentle pressing and a cool, controlled fermentation to retain aromatic purity. After blending, the wine undergoes secondary fermentation in bottle and is aged on its lees, building fine bubbles, texture and complexity before disgorgement and a Brut-level dosage that keeps the style crisp and dry.

Food & Serving
This Champagne Rosé is wonderfully versatile at the table. It pairs beautifully with charcuterie, smoked salmon, tuna tartare, sushi, and lightly grilled prawns, as well as roast chicken, herb-crusted pork or soft, creamy cheeses like brie and chaource. It also shines alongside strawberry and raspberry-based desserts that are not overly sweet. Serve well-chilled at around 8–10°C (46–50°F) to highlight its freshness and aromatics. A brief 10–15 minutes in the glass or an elegant tulip-shaped flute is sufficient; extended decanting is not necessary, though opening it a little in advance can help the aromas fully unfurl.

Producer
Lagille & Fils is a family-run grower in the Champagne region, known for championing Pinot Meunier and crafting characterful, terroir-driven wines from their own vineyards rather than sourcing from across the appellation. Over generations, the estate has focused on attentive vineyard work and sensitive winemaking to let Meunier express its full personality, especially in rosé styles like Fleur de Meunier. Their commitment to careful farming, meticulous hand-harvesting and extended lees ageing has earned them a reputation among Champagne enthusiasts for authenticity, consistency and exceptional value within the grower Champagne movement.
