Description
Domaine G. Roumier Chambolle-Musigny 2014 is a fine example of why Christophe Roumier is regarded as one of Burgundy’s great names. Even at village level, the domaine crafts a wine with the precision, elegance, and complexity many producers only achieve in their best Premier Cru bottlings.
Tasting Notes
The 2014 vintage shows classic Burgundian finesse with a striking freshness and purity. It opens with aromas of red cherry, raspberry, and wild strawberry, lifted by violet, peony, and subtle spice; with air, more layered notes of forest floor, tea leaf, and gentle minerality emerge, adding depth and nuance.
On the palate, it is silky and vibrant, with a beautifully poised balance of fruit, acidity, and structure. Fine, well-integrated tannins frame the red berry core, while the lively acidity carries the wine’s floral and mineral accents through a long, graceful finish. This is a Chambolle-Musigny with both immediate charm and excellent aging potential.
Production
Made from Pinot Noir in Chambolle-Musigny, in the heart of Burgundy’s Côte de Nuits, this wine reflects the appellation’s cool, elegant terroir. The village’s limestone-rich soils and ideal exposure help preserve freshness and aromatics, while careful vineyard work and hand harvesting support the production of fruit with purity and precision. Vinification is carried out with the goal of preserving finesse, texture, and site expression.
Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with dishes that complement its elegance, such as roast duck, quail, veal, mushroom risotto, or simply prepared poultry with herbs. Serve slightly cool, ideally around 15–16°C, and consider a light decant if young to allow the aromatics to open; for a more delicate bottle, pouring into a glass and letting it breathe is often enough.
Producer
Domaine G. Roumier, led by Christophe Roumier, is one of Burgundy’s most revered estates and a benchmark producer in Chambolle-Musigny. The domaine has built its reputation on meticulous vineyard work, low intervention winemaking, and an exceptional ability to express site character with clarity and grace. Its wines are widely admired for their consistency, purity, and capacity to age beautifully.
