Domaine François Millet’s Sancerre Le Vallon 2022 is a finely crafted Loire Valley white that highlights the precision and freshness for which Sancerre is celebrated. Made from traditional Sauvignon Blanc vines and matured with care, it combines bright mineral drive with a refined, textured style that reflects both the village of Bué and the family’s long heritage in the appellation.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it is typically pale straw in color with a luminous, clean appearance. The nose leans toward classic Sauvignon Blanc aromas of citrus, white flowers, and ripe orchard fruit, lifted by a subtle herbal edge and a delicate mineral tension. On the palate, the wine is fresh and focused, with crisp acidity, a smooth lees-derived texture, and a saline, chalky finish that gives real definition. The 12 months of maturation on the lees in older acacia casks add a gentle roundness without masking the wine’s purity. It should drink beautifully now, while also having the structure to develop additional complexity over the next few years.

Production
The wine comes from Domaine François Millet in Bué, in the southern part of the Sancerre appellation, where the family has worked the land since the 1700s. The estate is planted mainly to Sauvignon Blanc for Sancerre Blanc, and the grapes for Le Vallon are handled with slow pneumatic pressing before a long lees aging of 12 months in semi-old 100% acacia barrels, a choice that supports texture and aromatic finesse while preserving freshness.

Food & Serving
This Sancerre pairs naturally with oysters, shellfish, grilled white fish, goat cheese, asparagus, and light poultry dishes. Serve chilled, ideally around 8–10°C, and decanting is not necessary unless you wish to open it up slightly for more immediate aromatic expression.

Domaine François Millet is a historic family estate in Bué, with roots dating back to the 18th century. Since 2008, Nicolas Millet, the ninth generation, has led the domaine and continues to focus on the region’s classic varieties and terroir-driven wines. The estate is respected for its stewardship of both Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir in Sancerre, and for producing wines that balance tradition, precision, and elegance.
